ABOUT US

We are a locally owned and operated small batch craft roaster located in Trotwood, Ohio. Having developed a love of coffee from a very young age (I was a young child when my grandmother first mixed coffee for me), over the years I have experienced coffee in many different preparations and places. During my years of service in the US Navy, I was able to experience coffee in several countries around the world.

In addition to experiencing many varieties of coffee, I also had the benefit of living in Seattle where coffee is a mainstream part of life. After returning home to the Dayton I spent several years patronizing our local coffee shops and experiencing what they offered. Never satisfied with what I found, I began roasting green coffee beans for myself and for my friends and family.

My methods were basic at first...I began with a hot air popcorn popper, metal colander and a wooden spoon. I sourced my beans from the internet and other suppliers of green coffee beans. After several years of perfecting my technique, I began searching for a supplier of good quality green beans. I upgraded to a Behmor 1600 roaster and began selling my fresh roasted beans at a local farmer's market.

As the demand for my fresh roasted coffees increased, we upgraded again to an Artisan 6 fluid bed roaster. This allowed for slightly larger batches of coffee to be roasted in a shorter period of time. Staying true to our calling of craft roasting batches in 3-5 pound increments and only sourcing high quality beans from small, independent farms around the world.
